Road Trip

Friday Lisa, Blaike, Austin, and myself decided since the men were off Elk and Deer hunting we were going to go on a Road Trip. We started by having lunch with Randy. He also needed to pick up his bow since he broke the string. We were glad to have an excuse to do it.

From there we went to Cabela's. Men all over the place but the reason we went was to see my cousin that I hadn't seen in over 30 years. We asked for Steven Nielson and they pointed us down the counter and as we were trying to figure out which employee he was he said "Hello Carole". I was so excited. He even gave me a hug. He was with a customer and so we did not talk much. But Blaike and Austin got some tokens from Steven. They went and played the Arcades. Lisa took a shot at the skunk and hit it. Not only hit it she got sprayed. The boys were able to feed the fish and look at all of the big ones they had.

From there we went to Helper and Saw Big John. The boys could not believe how big he was. They got into the coal cars. Off to the Helper park. I spent many days at the swimming pool growing up. We road up to the Cemetery, then off to Kenilworth. We saw the home my mother lived. All so the church. Even tho she didn't go when she was young. I do remember going to that church with dad and mom. Dad probably was speaking.

Down to Spring Glen Park. Dad started the park while they lived in Spring Glen. Now stands green grass where when I was going to school was all dirt. The boys had fun swinging, sliding and playing on the bars.

It was getting time to get to Grandma Grundvigs. The boys wanted to go to the school and play on the toys. So the boys and Young Grandma went over to the school. There they started playing tag. I can not believe they talked me into it. Lisa just happened to show up and she ended up being it. For the first time in maybe in 40 years I have every slide down a slide. I was pretty good keeping away from Lisa. The boys are a little faster. It was great fun.

Up the canyon I have always wanted to visit a Cemetery. It is called the Mill Creek Cemetery. It was a pretty cemetery. Austin was a sleep so Lisa, Blaike, and myself looked through it. Blaike found a pussy-willow and wanted it. So he and Lisa worked on it and the picture will show the out come.

Adam, Richard, and Randy road with Gardell and I to the party and as they walked into the house Blaike yelled "Mom my Uncles are here". He was so excited. Always as we see the kids we got big hugs from them. The kisses are saved for Pamela. We had cake and ice cream and received lots of school clothes. The best gift of all was the 3 dollars Adam gave him. He loves money.

Oceanside CA

Arriving at 5 :00 AM on the beach in Oceanside there was no people there. The waves were Craching onto the beach. Shells were to be found and the coolness in the air is hard to discribe. By 6:00 the sun was coming up and the surfers were coming on the beach to get their the first surf of the day. Men came to find clams. I picked up the shells and the men soaked in the surrounds. By 8:00 we were hungry and tired. We found a Dennys to have breakfast. After that we found Kadee's home and I showered, Gardell took a nap, and the boy (Blake and Randy) went off to the beach again with Tyler, Sayer, Brody, and Elly to find a fire pit for that night. Sue had a Bridal shower at Noon that I went to and it was so fun. Then going back to Kadee's home with Connie Prettyman, everyone was ready to go to the beach. Linda, Gardell and I walked the Peir. I loved the shops. About 5 we went to the beach to find everyone. People got up early and stayed all day for a fire pit and our group got the very last one. Gardell and I found it. Robert and Bruce rode their bikes to the ocean. Every one had such a nice time.

Our Grandfather: Levon Grundvig

On June 17th 2010 Gardell and I went to Price to pick up Grandma and Grandpa Grundvig to have dinner with them and Gail and Loretta at the Chuck-A-Rama in Provo. We really had a nice day. Grandpa wasn't feeling really well so he ask Gail and Gardell to give him a blessing. We called around to different family members in the area to see if we could go to their home but could not find anyone. They ended up doing it in the truck. Worked out great. Grandpa wanted to get the suit we had given him a couple of years ago. We went to Mr. Mac and got that done. Then we headed off back to Price and then home

The next day the 18th Grandpa was not feeling good so Grandma and Grandpa decided to go to the hospital and get him checked over. They said he was in good health and when they received the cat scan back they found he had cancer. What a shock to all of us. He had kept his body in good shape. We were sad.

Sunday the 20th we went down for Fathers Day and enjoyed that day with him. They had an appointment Wednesday for an exam and the doctor moved it up to that day (Monday the 19th). They had him get a lung bi-opy on Thursday June 24th. The next week he went into the Huntsman Instutite in Provo that following week July 2nd. They decided to have him start kimo the following week on the 9th. Gardell went down and helped him and Loraina and Grandma if any thing went wrong. On Saturday the 10th Lisa and I road down and visited. Blaike and Austin really enjoyed the visit. By that afternoon Grandpa was feeling good. He was wanting to eat and with all his restrictions I am quit sure he was frustrated. He did get the watermelon he wanted. Gardell wanted to come home but we knew he needed to stay. So Lisa, the boys and myself took off. Sunday morning we woke up and I received a call for Gardell and I called down to let him know and Grandpa was passing away. My heart was so sad. Me and Lisa hurried as fast as we could to get down to Price but didn't make it. I was so sad. My heart was broken. He was really good to me. As I left Saturday Grandpa gave me a big hug and not knowing what was going to happen I didn't take time to enjoy the moment. It come and went. So now I have no more Grandpa's to hug me. The viewing was on Wednesday July 13th and the funeral was the 14th. I was asked to lead the music. It was a privilege. Now I would like to share the memories from the funeral. He was a "Special Man".
